Update: I recommend using a permanent marker on the lid and adding an arrow to indicate which direction the sliders need to be moved. I had an assistant to take care of my parents, I think they are picked up, and she damaged the clips a bit. The lid itself is not very transparent. The blue-violet permanent marker made sure of that. Just place the arrow in the direction you want the clip to slide and then it's easy for those who don't know how to open it. It turns out the five cup size has become my favorite way to freeze dog food. They work great in the freezer. We've had them for over a year and they're really good. If you need something to freeze food and defrost it in the microwave, this will help. Be sure to measure these for height before purchasing. The biggest of them is really very big. Slide the clamps to the opposite position, the hoses will be revealed and the air will come out, then simply remove the cap at this point. The clamps create suction as soon as you place them on the tubes. They're really easy to open once you get the hang of it.
