I see many reviews comparing these comfort seats to the very stiff standard seats on some bikes. Any comfort saddle is better than most standard seats I've seen, so I decided to compare comfort saddles to the higher standard comfort seats. My wife and I compared 8 different bike saddles for comfort. On the attached two pictures they are numbered from 1 to 8. (1-5 and 6-8). Most of them drove more than 6 miles through the streets for testing. Both of my wives are 59 years old and the comfort of the saddle is much more important to us today than it was 4 or 5 years ago. I am 6ft 210lbs, she is 5ft 6in 135lbs. Despite all the discussion about measuring the seat leg width and setting up the "right" saddle width, I found this to be less applicable for the comfort seat category. since both my wife and I, with more than 1 inch difference in sit bone width between us (5.5 vs. 4 inches), rated these comfortable seats almost equally. Most are just too narrow to allow for comfortable weight distribution and some lose their shape/support on the sides under pressure, hence less flat area to support the sit bones and this also makes them feel less stable. All but one. Those tested were too short to allow for forward or backward movement in the saddle. Also remember that a saddle that is too wide interferes with pedaling. Too narrow (not wide enough to support the width of the ischium) and you'll feel all the weight of your upper body in a smaller area, causing pain and even numbness. Timing Comfort-B (GRM Shop) Build quality and materials are also excellent, water resistance. After two 12-mile rides for the two of us, this GRM gains comfort slightly. It is slightly wider and longer than all other saddles tested. The extra length allowed the seat to rock back and forth, although that wasn't necessary for comfort. The width suits both of us and it's soft yet strong, holds its shape so weight distribution is excellent. Good - 4 stars #2 - OXYVAN bike seat Overall a little soft, doesn't hold shape on the sides, some instability when seated, but generally comfortable. #6 - Comfortable bike seat (SFDGVS) Also a bit soft overall and doesn't hold its shape under pressure. They tend to feel less stable in the saddle but are generally comfortable. Decent - 3 Stars #4 - Schwinn Standard Seat for Women - 7 Years #3 - Schwinn Standard Seat for Men - 8 Years. Both of our stock Schwinns were surprisingly as comfortable as the "comfort" saddles on the market below. Although they are not that wide, they still offer decent comfort due to their stable construction. They're soft, but not so soft that they lose their shape and support, but they're not as wide as the new seats we tested. fits the 4 and 5 star seats, but also keeps its shape under pressure. No. 8 comfort bike seat (Luscian) Hard plastic to the touch, holds its shape well even under pressure. #5 β "Most Comfortable Bike Seatβ (Hutigertech) Very hard plastic to the touch and certainly not a very accurate name for this seat. Holds shape under pressure.
