Review on Boraam Augusta Counter Height Swivel Stool 24-Inch Cappuccino - Elegant & Functional Bar Seating by Tommy Bagg

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great quality, excellent value for money!

This stool is of excellent quality and at a GREAT price. I'm a demanding customer who has been in product for most of my career, so I don't say this lightly. I'm so impressed I'm writing a full review for those who want details. To be specific I would give this product 4 1/2 stars if it were possible, but I'm rounding up to a 5, not a 4. Packaging - as others have pointed out, the packaging is exemplary. and explains why each item arrived in perfect condition. It takes 15 minutes to fully unpack and ready for assembly. It's worth every minute! Others have complained about not being able to find the equipment. My boxes arrived with a red plastic tag on the outside of the box that said "Hardware" and when you open the box you find that the label is hardware related. It's clear they listened to the feedback and made it painfully clear where the gear was. wood and finishes. Although the description calls this finish "cherry", I would describe it as a medium mahogany color. The tree itself resembles Asian redwoods such as Luan (Philippine redwood). The color goes really well with my medium cherry wood cabinets and Brazilian cherry wood floor. I am a carpenter and am very impressed with the workmanship. It's a satin finish and after examining every part of the three chairs, it's near perfection in every area that comes up. Construction - all parts fit together very well. Each bolt engages a threaded metal insert. You will not drive wood screws. All the screws are hex head screws, so you can tighten them well and tightly. The footrest is sturdy, not flimsy wood. I wouldn't go for it anyway. When collecting the first one, I noticed that the swivel is a bit stiff. Make sure the chair rotates easily after assembly and under your weight. I assume they made it a little tight to keep kids from rolling around on it. Probably some benefactor in Washington made it so the kids couldn't have fun. ;-) Assembly - the instructions are sufficient, but not detailed. And I would like to add that they are only useful if you check them before you start building. Of course, I didn't do that before I assembled my first stool. The most important lesson you learned from this is that it's really important that you collect them in the order outlined above. Assembly steps: 1) Attach the four legs to the footrest, 2) Attach the "skirt" (ring under the seat) (note that the previous two steps are shown as one step in the instructions), 3) Attach the backrest to the seat, 4) Attach assembled seat to swivel bracket. The screws are very clearly marked, as are the washers, and a hex wrench is included. Here are some hints and tips: 1. All screws are fitted with washers. All bolts also use lock washers EXCEPT for the last four bolts that attach the seat to the pivot.2. If you don't follow the recommended order, you will find it very awkward to access some of the screws.3. First assemble the legs and two rings. A very common mistake is to overtighten each screw during installation and then complain that everything doesn't fit. Once the legs and rings are loosely assembled, place the unit on a flat surface (I used my own granite kitchen island) and then tighten. I recommend tightening the seat ring first and then the footrest.4. The hex wrench has a ball end on one end - great for turning the bolt head at an angle if needed, up to the last half turn of the tightening.5. I put an old towel on the counter so I didn't scratch anything. 6. Bolts and washers are oily when taken out of the box. I'd have a rag handy to wipe them off while you get ready. I found it helpful to use my set of metric allen wrenches (shown as it gives a great grip and can also be bent 90 degrees. 8. The underside of the seatback where it attaches to the seat is a slightly wider arc than that Seat Base Start with all six bolts then tighten first the middle bolts then the outer bolts until flush Then tighten the outer bolts The assembled unit is very nice and looks like it could cost twice as much or more. The seat cushion itself is on the hard side. I have very little padding on the back (!) so I would have liked a little more padding on the seat. The back of the seat is VERY comfortable. Although this is the correct rack height, would have I'd rather have them an inch or two higher. I measured the distance under a hundred yo, and that's the way it should be. But I'm not tall so I preferred sitting a little higher n. Bar stools would be too high. To sum it up, if you like her look, go for it. I am deeply impressed with the quality and value they represent. If anything changes I will come back and update this review. Here are some photos to give you a better idea.
