I really like this product

I really like this product. I used it on my brother SQ9000. The only downside so far is that the presser foot doesn't stay in the fully raised position when released, so I have to manually hold the presser foot lever in the highest position when preparing the fabric for sewing, but I find that very minor. I'm pretty sure this problem only occurs on certain sewing machine models. I see a lot of people reporting that they had trouble figuring out how to use this. Personally, it seemed obvious to me. Just look at where the blade is on the presser foot, watch closely how the lever on the needle screw moves the blade up and down, and you can probably figure it out. The instructions say to trim some seam allowance, but I don't. I just start by having my fabric in front of the needle instead of under it and let the rack and pinion move the fabric under the blade for me. Fabric or circle around the raw edge. My guess is that these sewer pipes are either not placing the needle the correct distance from the blade, or they don't have enough seam allowance for the blade to sit comfortably between the seam line and the raw edge to be able to cut cleanly. My car uses digital settings and is fairly accurate. If I set the needle position to 5mm I get a perfectly finished edge. I have not attempted to use this foot for upholstery or sewing jackets, jeans or bags. I have used it on a limited number of fabrics for outerwear, light pants and skirts and it has worked very well with these materials.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky
