Review on 🚿 Danco 88923 Clip Style Shower Drain Cover: Chrome Plated Aluminum Steel for 3-3/8 inch Shower Drains by Shawn Jacobs

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The metal doesn't hold up its finish so it's a disappointment.

First of all, this product works really well as a hair strainer, although it's uncomfortable and not very neat and lies flat over the shower drain so maybe if you wiggle the bottom part long enough it may flatten out, or it may be better to leave it as is; this will probably work just fine. The biggest disappointment was that its shiny aluminum finish completely discolored within 3 showers and had an almost black worn appearance in parts of the drain cover! I remember this product used to be sold at Home Depot where I've had it in the past but who knows if their product will hold up any better. But the one I got now looks like a piece of junk! hardly worth 25 cents, in 3 showers with the coating already worn in places? How could this happen when she was given regular municipal shower water and regular shower gel and shampoo? If in the 21st century we can't sell the consumer a shower tray with a durable aluminum coating that will retain its finish and appearance for at least a couple of years, what the hell advancement have we invented? It's pretty pathetic - I want everything in the house to look neat and clean and that's where this product falls short - its manufacturer skimped on the corners with a PATHETIC coating process that doesn't stick to its surface even on first use , let alone wear and tear. The one I got from Home Depot a few years ago looks better but I thought it was a bit old so I threw it away. So someone needs to change the process and improve the lasting quality of the look of this product which is highly functional indeed. The last time I bought it from Home Depot it was on sale for $1.99, prices shouldn't double and the quality is falling sharply!

Pros
  • High marks for hold and durability from testers
Cons
  • Minor issues
