Inexpensive Investment for Hair, Skin and Health

First of all I'm not being paid for this review but for some people on the fence this might be helpful. My hair became brittle and broke off. It felt like straw. My wife went through the same thing. My body was always itchy and I was afraid of developing an allergy. I couldn't believe that was possible. What has changed? We have moved to an area that has very hard water that is heavily chlorinated and the city water supply occasionally uses chloramine to clean the pipes. I've never been one to really pay attention to the water. I just shave, shower, brush my teeth and end the night. I was sick of the white mineral deposits in the showers and the orange magnesium/iron stains. I landed on this particular filter because the vitamin C was added for the chloramine. I was very, very skeptical, especially after reading some of the negative reviews. I didn't test the before and after water quality but the water no longer smells like chlorine and after a few showers our skin needs less lotion to keep it moist. The biggest difference was our hair. The shampoo now has better lather and our hair is much softer now. I couldn't believe the difference. I installed this on July 19th, 2020 and in a few days it made all the difference. I believe it also clears some of the minerals and heavy metals. My skin has fewer pimples and the soap creates a much better lather. The difference is day and night. For the main shower I also bought a shower head with a filter for extra filtering. I ended up with this brand because it came with an extra filter and you can buy additional "universal" filters if needed. Since it was less than a week ago, I can't say anything about the longevity of the filters, but it's worth it for hair care. Note that the filter housing is made of plastic with chrome paint, so don't crazy tighten it with tools when installing it. Others have mentioned that the filter leaks at the connection points with the threads. Make sure to use the rubber grommets provided when installing. Use the Teflon tape provided, but just enough to create a tight seal. The rubber gasket should seal the water on its own, but if you have rough edges on the connecting pipe it may need to be tightened a bit. Make sure you tighten it hand-tight only. This is plastic, so using tools may break it. You can't select this filter, but do yourself a favor and use any filter you like. My only gripe is that the filter housing is plastic and can potentially crack, and if you're tall (I'm 6ft 2in) you may have to crouch a bit to wash your hair off. I will update if there are any changes. Pros: - Softer hair and skin - Less chlorine and chlorine smell - More suds from soap and shampoo - An overall better shower experience Cons: - Plastic body - Can leak if not properly sealed - Adds five inches to the length of the shower headUPDATE: We've been using this filter in conjunction with the showerhead filter for almost two weeks now and my wife says she can't believe how soft her hair is again. I can absolutely say the same about my hair. It's so much softer and less brittle. After two weeks, I've noticed a lot less white and orange hard water buildup on the inside of the showers. I originally bought three of these for all of our master showers. Not worth it for the guest shower as it is rarely used. Low cost, easy install, still leaning on the fact this was a great purchase and would buy again if needed. For now it's just a matter of making sure we have spare filters on hand.
