I have a child with cleft lip and palate so drooling when fed was a problem from day one. I usually use Skip Hop or Bumkins bibs. They are equal to these breastplates. Waterproof, crumb pocket, armpit to armpit closure and strong Velcro closure. Washes well, the colors are true to nature. I doubt I would use them as bibs because they are not absorbent at all. Just use cotton for the bib in my opinion. I only use them for meals and they saved a lot of shirts. I thought they were more gender neutral but cute for my little girl. Highly recommended!
