Causes horrible blisters

I bought these shoes for 3 kids to play with and they all got horrible blisters where the heel material meets the rubber part. I tried cutting off the excess fabric to see if that would help, but that didn't help. They are meant to get wet so I didn't force them to wear socks and I felt so horrible they all had such painful sores. My daughters also came in with one of the holes torn.
