I bought these blocks to help my 13 year old dog climb onto the couch. The steps sold for this purpose were too narrow and I knew she wouldn't use them. But these blocks for toddlers are perfect! I installed a flat square block next to the sofa and put a step in front of it. She immediately started using them with minimal encouragement and a few treats. I tied the two blocks together to keep them from moving during use. I am so happy that she can now sit and stand up on the sofa without any problems. I chose these over the others because they were the only ones that weren't flashy and they came in a small set so weren't that expensive. We only needed two blocks, so I didn't need a whole set of child seats. You should note that they are not strong enough to support an adult, so don't expect it. My dog is 27 pounds and she stands on it without the foam sagging much under the weight. I don't think they would fit a very large dog but maybe up to 50lbs or so? We've been using them for a few weeks now and haven't had any cracks, scratches, stains etc. They seem to be quite durable. . I definitely recommend trying them out if you're having trouble finding movements that your arthritic dog will actually use. I think kids would love to play with it too. The coating is soft to the touch and feels waterproof, if not waterproof.
