This shelf is well made and I love the flexibility of changing the height of each tier. I was able to fit 2 pairs of low top sneakers and a pair of mid to tall basketball shoes (all size 12) on the rack. But this only works if the high top is in the top position. With the posts set as far apart as possible, there are only standard trainers that fit the bottom two locations. I think most standard step shoe racks have the same spacing, but that's just something to keep in mind. A few more assembly/installation notes: The hardware that came with it was fine, I decided to use my own screws and install in my garage to drywall with studs behind as I didn't have to worry about babysitting the counter and " neat” wants to do "put your shoes on her. Nothing holds each shelf in place except gravity as they are "inserted" over the central wire frame. So they wobble a little when first putting them on, but I didn't feel like they could really come off. If this bothers me a lot later on, an easy fix would be to use small zip ties to make the attachment more secure.
