The product seems solid enough for the price and definitely good for travel. My problem is that for some reason it *NOT* outputs surround sound from the switcher to my receiver. To avoid paying Dolby royalties, Nintendo outputs surround sound with 5-channel PCM audio. I originally bought this docking station for our basement which has a surround sound home theater setup with everything hooked up to a receiver. Dock outputs via HDMI to receiver, receiver to TV and surround speakers. After testing everything with the dock and why the receiver only handles stereo sound when set to receive a PCM signal, I decided to replace the original dock to confirm that the cables and everything else was not the Evildoers were what worked perfectly. For some reason this docking station refuses to put out surround sound. My receiver wouldn't even recognize that it was outputting a PCM signal, just stereo. The product itself would be absolutely gorgeous and would get 5 stars if the dock had surround sound like it should, but as it bills itself as a replacement for switch docks and doesn't have all the features I can't give it a 5 Stars. . Another downside is that (as other commenters have pointed out) there is no switch docking guide. I assume this should also be able to connect other non-switch devices (which actually work properly after testing my android device). It's good for what it does, but I wouldn't buy it again if I knew it worked without surround sound output.
