As a designer who often works with Photoshop and Adobe, I've always needed a good mouse. During particularly long sessions, I experienced wrist pain with conventional mice. My favorite mouse is the Logitech MX Master. So when I saw Logitech launching a premium vertical mouse, I jumped at the chance to try it! First, it looks great and feels good in the hand. It didn't take me long to get used to the new position. It became natural very quickly. It's very light, which bothered me at first, but now I like it compared to the much heavier MX Master. But after some use I noticed some issues and things that are far from ideal. The mouse puts weight on the wrist where the bone meets the table: the mouse's handle is raised quite high, requiring you to slouch your arm to fully grasp it. My hand/wrist naturally wanted to rest, so by default I squeezed it lightly with my fingers and pressed my wrist against the table. Over time it became painful. I'm not sure why the grip is so high. I bought a wrist rest to see how it would improve things. But it looks like a design oversight. Inconvenient to use for a long time without wrist support.2. The scroll wheel is like a throwback to previous mice that had a free scroll option: the MX-Master has this awesome variable scroll wheel that can switch between notched scrolling and smooth scrolling. I didn't realize how much I used/enjoyed this feature until it disappeared. Considering the premium they charge for this mouse, it's a shame they didn't include it.3. No horizontal scroll wheel. It's a nitpick, but I also miss the second scroll wheel for horizontal scrolling. I often have to do this with large documents and images and I lack that control. Again, this is a premium mouse feature, but this is a premium mouse. 4. No laser tracking in dark field. I was also disappointed that I couldn't use this mouse on glass like the MX Masters. I have a glass desk so I had to buy a mouse pad to use this mouse on it. Again, it's not a big deal, but it feels like a step backwards in quality and ease of use. Which shouldn't happen at the top levels of their product offering. Overall I still think it's a good product. When I go back to my MX Master it now feels wrong and awkward telling me my hand prefers the new one. But it's missing some premium features that look like they should have been included, and the fact that it's cumbersome to begin with is a problem. You may disagree, but I think Logitech had a chance to meet us with a new mouse paradigm, but it's not the pinnacle I was hoping for.
