After narrowing down the options, we chose this chair because our other choice of seat cushion flattened too easily, affecting seating comfort for long periods of time. This one definitely doesn't have that problem. It's stylish, well made and comfortable, and my wife uses it to sit at a high table instead of standing while she does her work. Assembly is easy, using four included screws and a wrench to secure the seat to the mounting bar. The pneumatic lifting mechanism is inserted into the base. To complete assembly, simply lower the assembled top onto the lift. The footrest/lift ring is welded to the post so no assembly is required. I have a question: can the subfloor damage parquet or vinyl? I'm pretty sure this is unlikely as the round metal base of the base has a strong plastic ring on the underside that slightly lifts the metal base so it's off the ground.
