I'm 5ft 6", usually weigh 130-135lbs, have size 6 pants and usually small to medium outerwear at stores like Express but I have bought a size bigger. The big one is very tight. I just have a small fluffy tummy that I didn't want to show so thought about returning it for a size XL but I didn't want it to be too loose so it wouldn't rise in the water so I stuck with it . big as it wasn't that bad. But if I had more dog, I would definitely trade him for an XL. I bought this for sun protection while snorkeling in Hawaii and I'm pretty pale and it worked great. I didn't get burned at all. And the long sleeves kept me warm during early morning snorkeling when the water was still a bit chilly. Definitely recommend.
