This is a fun creative set for children to play with. I've had this for 4 years and just did it with him and his 5 year old friend. The results are amazing, but the process required a lot of guidance and sometimes action on their behalf. The clay is very peculiar - very elastic and slightly sticky and also very light. Not tight at all. The instructions are partly self-explanatory (although there are problems if you try to make two different finger puppets at the same time, since there is only one instruction). My girlfriend (adult female) and I helped our kids put on cardboard accent markers (some of which are pretty small) and dinosaur features. I think older kids (7+) can handle this on their own, but kids 4 and 5 definitely need help. There are loads of accessories for the dolls (hats, necklaces, glasses, etc.) so you can dress them up once they're made (although it's quite difficult to keep the hats and glasses in place after the dolls have dried) . . . ). Overall I loved this set and more importantly my son and his friend loved their dolls (my son also threw a tantrum at not being able to make a third doll before bed). The finished products don't really look like they are. on the box, but they were made by little kids (for the most part. Except for the parts that had to be glued on). It's nice to have activities without screens. These creative kits help develop dexterity and hand-eye coordination. I love doing it with my son.
