For me I needed a way to navigate with my phone when traveling and they don't condone sticking things to the dash in rental cars. so I have this to help. The silicone has enough tack to stick to the dashboard but not enough to rip the naugahid out of the foam. It's big enough for almost any phone and portable enough to put in your backpack when not in use. There is a piece of foil on the sticky side which you should save and re-apply when not in use as this piece will attract all the dust out of your bag but if you lose it you can easily wash it off to re-attach it to one glorious state of engagement.
