Review on Homelux Theory Reusable Silicone Preserving by Phillip Johnson

I bought these hoping to use fewer plastic bags. I opened the package and at first thought they looked great and loved the bright colors of the sliding plastic clip. However, it didn't take long for me to notice a distinct and strong plastic/silicone smell (more so than other silicone items I've bought in the past). At first I dismissed it because I thought it might go away if I washed them. Then I tried to remove the plastic strap and it took a lot of effort to get it off. Once it was turned off, the smell only intensified and I worried that any food stored in it would absorb the smell and spoil. Then I tried to slide the plastic clip back and couldn't attach it. My friend also tried this to no avail and we eventually gave up for fear of tearing the silicone when putting it on. This defeats the whole point of using reusable packages since we're never going to use them anyway. Considering I paid over $25 for this product, it's sad that it was so difficult to use. I will return it - thankfully they offer free returns - and follow up with a better product.
