Let me start with something that should be obvious. Wearing a mask is required for the safety of OTHERS. Masks keep the virus away from your body in the air, moisture, "droplets" etc. that you breathe out. When you wear a mask, you stop at the mask - and the people around you will be safer. That's why wearing a mask is respectful and polite to others. This shows that you care. The problem now is that this mask does not filter the air you exhale. It just lets it pass through the one-way valve and leave your body without being filtered. Not very useful if you have a virus. You can filter out dust and particles when you breathe in, but breathing out doesn't help those around you. the lowest score I can get in the general category as it doesn't protect others.
