Review on ๐Ÿ”ฅ Yedi Total Package 6-in-1 Digital Grill, Waffle Maker, Panini Press, Griddle: The Ultimate Cooking Companion with Deluxe Accessories by Thomas Silva

It's a good deal but a terrible waffle maker.

I've tried the Yeti and I can attest that it's well made and well thought out. Temperature control is accurate and well distributed, although I would have liked separate top and bottom adjustments. Removable panels make cleaning VERY easy; Nonstick works well. It really makes sandwiches "special" and is versatile enough to cook a lot on. That's why I'm deducting a star - the whole point of the purchase was to make waffles with precise temperature control. No matter what I do, they pale in comparison to my 20-year-old Sunbeam waffle maker, which I paid $24 for. I ran a controlled test measuring the temperature of the sun's rays (180 degrees) and baking waffles with both devices at the same heat and time. Sunbeam has created crispy, light and fluffy waffles with deep Belgian pockets. Yeti makes rubber/wet waffles with hesitant "American" dents. I've come to the conclusion that this is because the Sunbeam releases a lot of vapor while the Yeti holds it all. I even tried holding the door open but then the spikes didn't form properly. Another thing I learned is that the sunbeam only heats up on the bottom platen and that seems to make perfectly cooked waffles on the top and bottom. Yeti is heated from both the top and bottom, and the two sides always cook differently. It seems that two heating elements for making waffles did not pay off. I also make waffles with hash browns or hash browns and again the cheap sunbeam makes them die. Yeti is too thick and heavy, which is due to the shape of the waffle plates: they are too far apart and the walls of the waffle are too thick, so it doesn't get the right proportion of toasted potato surface area. So as a standard panini maker or small kitchen grill, this is a great device. The only thing that annoys me is that I can't make real waffles with it.
