I recently bought a new mountain bike and the only water bottle mount is under the down tube. I always travel with a bottle because I don't like pouring electrolyte mix into my camel. Anyone with a bottle cage under the mount knows how gross bottle caps get in the middle of a trip, especially during last year's record-breaking rain. After several other failed repairs, this turned out to be the cheapest and ideal solution. Polar bottles hold up better in the cage than other bottles with built-in caps that I've tried (unfortunately, those bottles lie on the sides of the trails and can't be found).
