I compressed l4, l5 disks and suffered for about a year. I have worn Danskos, Birkenstock and other brands and never thought any other brand would provide pain relief and I was not looking for that in a shoe. I've been almost pain free for two months now. Comfortable and very light, they stick to the kitchen floor even when grease or water is around. They aren't as breathable as I'd like so I got another pair half a size bigger. I don't know if they'll fall apart, but hey, for $40, who cares. They are so shiny my chefs laugh at me. It is worth it .. Get them if you have sciatica.
