Review on πŸ“· Sony Cybershot DSC-H7 8.1MP Digital Camera - 15x Optical Zoom, Image Stabilization (OLD MODEL) by Dylan Aaronson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent bridge camera

I did a lot of research on bridge cameras (digital cameras between point and shoot and SLR cameras) and finally settled on the H7 for two reasons. First, I had a 3.2 megapixel Sony camera before. I was happy with how it worked and found the camera menu easy to use. I wanted to upgrade to more megapixels and more optical zoom but still have an "easy to use" camera. Second, Sony cameras had ALL the features I wanted (continuous shooting, face detection, high ISO, etc.), while other brands tended to have just one or two of those features. The camera was easy to set up and I was shooting within 5 seconds. minutes (the battery was 2/3 charged when delivered). The camera came with remote control, neck strap, lens cap and lens hood. You have to buy a memory card, but I just used the extra one from my PSP. Pros: - 8.1 megapixels with 15x optical zoom: These two features are hard to find together in one camera. I found that with other cameras I had to compromise on one thing or the other. The combination of these two features allows you to create great images. Steady Shot: As other reviewers have said, I found this to be of great help when zoomed to the maximum. Face Recognition: It takes a bit of fiddling to get it working properly, but it really helps. Focus your photos on the people, not the background. -Menu: Having previously owned a Sony camera, learning the menus in the camera was not a problem. not that hard. However, it may take some time for people who are not used to Sony products. Cons: LCD screen: The screen gets dirty very easily and quickly. The screen resolution is not very good for what I expected from Sony and that is the main reason why I cannot give this product 5 stars. hard to hold. You'll probably need two hands if you take a lot of shots. Accessories must be made by Sony: As with all Sony products, you only need to buy their accessories. I know this is an important factor for people who already have a large collection of lenses. - Shots in motion: I probably need to work with the camera settings, but all my shots in motion are blurry. I've seen several reviews of this camera stating this is a problem. All in all, this is a great camera. As a previous reviewer said, this camera isn't for those looking for a DSLR. It is an evolution of the first point-and-shoot generation. However, for all the features you get, this is excellent value for money.
