It doesn't take long to freeze water. This is a solid tray. I usually fill the tray, pour ice into the bin and repeat twice until there are three trays of ice in the bin at a certain point. Of course, if I do that, there's no room for a spoon in the tray, but that doesn't matter. I just sit upstairs. Now I never run out of ice cream. Love it! Absolutely worth the money. I will never get another one of those dollar ice trays that just break and have nowhere to store ice.
