I originally bought them for a completely different purpose (fixing the corners of a vintage rug to a Berber rug in ours Rental so it doesn't work I don't trip over anyone and turn around every time we suck) and they honestly were perfect for that purpose! No problems rolling them through both layers of carpet, and not uncomfortable if you accidentally stepped on them, and the "heads" stayed in place when we vacuumed them with no problem. God forbid you accidentally hit it with your flip flops though, because that little plastic head flies and now a nice hard metal tip comes out of your carpet (needle nose pliers, that's all). We've also used them to hold our sheets in place as intended, and the 'heads' have popped out numerous times during this use, rendering them almost unusable. We chose to take only sheets with deep pockets. I'm not sure, maybe some of them aren't as safe as others in the pack and we seem to keep catching "losers" or something. In any case, they gave my frivolous idea a helping hand and protected the edges of our 200-year-old Persian carpet from further unraveling.
