As others have reported the hinges can come loose when standing on a stool. The top also flexes as the weight nears the center. My wife needed a stool to get into our SUV after her hip surgery. The height of this stool is perfect but I wouldn't let her use it until I altered it as shown in the photos. I added a strong bodice and suspenders on the short sides to keep the stitches from deforming and splitting. No longer foldable but now very stable.
