Review on BULLIANT Men's Slide Ratchet Dress Belt - Perfect for Dress Pants, Oxford Shirts, and Trim-to-Fit! by David Citizen

This belt is good and not so good

I was initially reluctant to purchase this belt because I didn’t have a sense of trusting the belts "ratcheting” system for size adjustments. But now having bought 3 of these belts, I now trust the ratchet adjustment mechanism and very much like the "micro adjustment” capability, but there’s other elements about the belt I don’t like. The belt comes nicely presented in a gift like box, but personally I’d rather save a couple of bucks or whatever the box cost. The first belt I received, I wore it for about 1 year until the buckle itself broke unexpectedly. The pin that holds one side of the belt to the buckle basically detached. I liked the belt enough to purchase again hoping that the same thing wouldn’t happen again. Well, that didn’t happen again. But after about 2 years, the belt material (I guess it’s some sort of leather, but it seems to be a cheap leather ) degraded to the point (see pic) where it started to crack and break away from the clasp on the buckle that holds that side of the belt. I tried to fix it by trimming/cutting off the end that had that degraded portion, and that worked for a short while, but the general condition of the "leather” had degraded to the point where the fix wasn’t lasting and the same thing quickly happened.Despite these 2 problems, I liked the belt enough that I got a third one. Assuming it doesn’t last another 2 years again, I will probably start searching for a different belt ahead of time. If these belts were only $10 or so, I would probably stay with these belts, but for the price of $25-30, I expect them to last much longer.

Pros
  • Paint can scratch off the buckle very easily. Other than that, I like the belt.
Cons
  • The belt may not be ideal for those who frequently need to adjust or take off their belt throughout the day
