Looks like hard plastic. It's not like this. More like an eraser. It's also difficult to get close enough so that a gust of wind doesn't shake the camera and set off a motion alert. I placed my camera completely under the bar in the corner where it doesn't need to see much sun, wind, rain, etc. I'm not sure how long it will last in this rubber case.
