The material is similar to a summer dress made of cotton (no knitwear). The fabric is a bit stiffer than I originally expected. The cut of the dress is probably not my favorite - it looks a bit baggy on the steps but she loves the purple mermaid print. She didn't want to take it off. The pale pink dress is embellished with shimmering vertical gold stripes. My daughter usually wears a size 4, so a size 4/5 fits her about mid-calf.
