My children use kraft paper for drawing and painting. My wife uses it on picnic tables and packing things. I use it in landscape mode. I have a hill full of poisonous weeds that I am turning into a beautiful natural landscape. I cut the weeds as deep as possible, covered them with paper and covered them with a layer of mulch to keep everything in place. Spring will come, I'll poke holes in the mulch and planting paper. The paper will eventually rot in the ground, but in the meantime my new plants will take root, not compete with the weeds, and start to spread and naturalize the mound. When the weeds try to grow, my plants will be ready to overtake them. This kraft paper is superior to landscape fabric in this application because it is biodegradable and it is superior to newsprint because it can be quickly and easily rolled up and nailed down to keep the wind off.
