I had to redo the flagpole. I wanted something smooth enough to slide over a pulley but strong enough to last a couple of seasons. Paracord came to mind. But I wanted something thicker than 5 or 7 strands. i found this It's almost made for the work ahead. This is smooth braided rope with just enough nylon to hold the flag securely in place. It ties well on top. Much better than the rope that came with the bar. It's probably too much for the job, but I can't think of a better rope for the job.
