Bowl is decent but sellers are frankly misleading buyers. If you buy this product and believe that there is no plastic in this product (first of all, the product description clearly states that there is no plastic), you are very wrong. The resin identification code #5 PP is clearly marked on the bottom of the bowl. Wheat straw is used as a filler when mixed with PP (polypropylene), a thermoplastic polymer, making this product durable and able to withstand high temperatures (microwave and dishwasher safe). Wheat straw is biodegradable, but nothing biodegradable per se is dishwasher safe, so polypropylene is essential to the success of this product. One of the two things that makes this product "green" is that it may contain LESS plastic due to the wheat straw filler, however there is no way of knowing what % is wheat straw and what % is polypropylene unless the manufacturer announces this. . Second, these bowls are obviously meant to be used for a very long time, which helps reduce overall waste while someone is using them.
