I haven't had a laptop since 2010. The CIS boys at my school advised me to take this one. I wish I could just spend the money to fix my wife's old MacBook G4, but I didn't. Here's what's good: - it's basic and what's not: Hardware: - On day one I tried to insert a microSD card into the side slot. It missed the port side and got stuck in the gap between the port side and the hull. THREE LATER CALLS TO DELL and the best advice they gave me was to "take the back off". (The first guy told me I didn't put the card in properly. I asked him how old he was and when he told me I informed him that I've been using SD cards for over 2/3 of his life. No me did not insert the card wrong The second man told me that I inserted the card wrong (upside down, I did not insert it) - There is only one card reader: Micro SD Why not SD MicroSD is a parody And say "it makes the laptop thin" doesn't bother me. I don't mind lugging around an extra pound if it means lightweight components can be upgraded to something that actually works. Who the heck doesn't have USB-A ports? JFC. Want to use your old remote mouse? Okay, I'll have to get a USB-C expansion port. That works great. Hell, I wish the LAPTOP worked as well as this: https://www.amazon .com/USB-Hub-Multiport-Adapter-Compatible/dp/B07RL5L8ZL/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1 &gclid=CjwKCAjwnK36BRBVEiwAsMT8WKby7L8uZB3jOnw72oY5Svtxi14WYV4LA2K2Uy1A2f7xLB-cXAK_UxoCk6oQAvD_BwE&hvadid=323173960799&hvdev= c&hvlocphy=9033151&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=b&hvrand=12255038517271475320&hvtargid=kwd-300449157548&hydadcr=18037_9812657&keywords=apple+usb-c+to+usb+adapter&qid=1598814035&s=electronics&sr=1-6&tag=googhydr-20- this keyboard .what a piece of garbage. The keys move about 1/64 inch. May be. Performance: - I just rendered a Camtasia video on this computer to compare to my 4 year old desktop at work. At work, rendering a 2.5 Giga video took 4 minutes. Here? 25 minutes. This is unacceptable. I have a folder with several image files that I need to rename. Every time I did this, the entire folder was updated. And it lasted a good 10 seconds. EVERY TIME. What, that's 1997? Do I have a ZIP drive to pull these images from? Do it better. That's not all, but I want to take our son on a camping trip and you get the basic idea. Do not buy this item (even if someone else is paying for it).
