A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I was a carsharer. The EL cords were a real godsend because no one will forgive having their phone in your car plugged into any of these things! (and trust me, you don't want your passengers leaving their phones in the car!) Well, enter this instance. Firstly, this is not an EL wire, it is an LED. Presumably that makes it brighter (not really) and extends its lifespan (we'll see). The animation is a bit more pulsating than the cables I've used before, but the principle is the same: it animates the current drain. The waves "flow" faster when your device is "starved", slower when it just needs to be charged, and the entire light show turns off when it's fully charged. decent kernel flexibility.
