It does not stand on its own like in the photo but I was able to make a cardboard insert that goes up slightly from the bottom and sides which works well. It's just the right size to store my embroidery projects, with room for a frame and project box or cards with thread and various supplies like scissors and patterns. I also have several books on embroidery. The outside has velcro that I want to remove. This piece is perfect for scissors, knitting needles, hooks, etc. I loved the look of the tapestry so much that I ordered a matching sewing box.
