Okay, I'll admit I don't wash with soap, but I've been using it as a deer repellent for years. For years, deer stripped the bark off the young seedlings I planted, eventually killing the young trees. But after hanging part of the rod on a tree, the deer dodge it. I usually use 4 rods and only hang 1/4. The original works best and lasts a long time. When the trees are a few years old and the trunk reaches 5 to 6 inches in diameter, soap is no longer needed.
