I installed it on the side of a bookshelf to support a 27" computer monitor and it blocks my top shelf but can be removed to access the shelf if needed. I'm back to order another mount for a second monitor on the other side of the bookshelf. Probably the best way to install this is to remove the pins on the end of the bracket and glue the plastic spacers, attaching the mounting plate to the wall. , then attach the TV or monitor (I used it for a computer monitor) to the VESA end with the appropriate standoffs and screws, then lift the TV and mount part up and insert the pins into the mount. Pins with the supplied hex wrenches. What I like best is that the head swivels and can be leveled very easily.
