I bought this for my wife because she loves whales. This is probably the coolest butter dish we've ever had. It seems pretty solid... although we're being very careful with it because we really like it and it would be a shame to drop it. The "bones" on the base are a nice touch because you can use them to measure. even portions. The base can absorb all American oils and all European oils. The handle on the lid is actually a gargoyle with a wall hole...that only adds to the imagination. All in all, this is a great purchase and a great gift. If you have a loved one who loves whales, you can't go wrong with this one.
