I have white 4x4 tiles in the shower. I washed it well with alcohol. The adhesive strength of the pads is excellent. I've had shelves of several bottles of shampoo and conditioner for almost a month now. I don't care what the glue puts out. As I laid them down I could easily see what I would call air bubbles, not really bubbles but areas where the pads weren't pressed firmly against the tile. I could see this because the pads aren't very transparent against the white tiles. It must not appear on the colored tile. What I did was gently press each part of the pad against the tile to dislodge what I call air bubbles. I can't imagine the overlays being able to detach from the tile.
