I buy these every year for my son who turns 10 this year. They are very durable, comfortable and we love that there are no laces although he can tie his shoes lol. The dog has been chewing on our current pair which is why we love them so much I will actually be buying him another pair. They are waterproof, not waterproof. In them, your children's feet will stay dry on a hike, even if you have to cross a small stream. They keep your feet warm and dry in winter, but are also perfect for summer. I don't think they're the best in deep, wet snow, but you can definitely walk down a snowy trail in them if the snow isn't covering your boots. We spend a lot of time in the forest as we live in a very rural area. These boots stand up to thorns, spikes and rocky terrain. Merrell is a great brand. Can't compare to these children's shoes for the price.
