The way you attach them is weird. Leg clips should not sit under the shelf. You click them together and then slide the shelf down. Make sure the clips are snug against the legs of the stand. And the shelf sits on these clips. It's hard to explain without looking at it. Luckily they gave you some extra clips in case you drop or break them. It was very difficult to do all four braces/legs at the same time. One always popped up when I grabbed the other corner. Then you push the shelf down. Every shelf should have liners, but I didn't take them. I got two out of three missions. One star deducted for that. Also, the instructions aren't very clear. But it's still a pretty shelf
