Sound good and noise canceling is good. I've been looking for the cheapest noise canceling headphones under $100 and I think I've made a good choice. Now the noise cancellation doesn't drown out ALL the noise, around 60-70% I'd say, so you can still hear some on the subway, but it sounds muffled or much quieter. The NC will make a high-pitched tone to let you know it's on (next to the green light). I love them and now I can hear my audio books clearly on the subway. The only thing that tops this are the full-size NC headphones. UPDATE It looks like the noise canceling feature is draining the battery faster. Still decent battery life, but I'd advise against turning it on for long rides. In itself it is quite loud.
