I chopped up some green and red peppers for freezer storage and was happy to see that they are much better protected than regular disposable bags. They came out after a few weeks like I just froze them. Almost no extra ice. It was a nice bonus as I just got them to stop contributing to the plastic problem on our planet. As already mentioned, the closure is quite tight. I would not consider them for use by children. I have no issues with the smell or taste of plastic. And I hand wash them and lay them open to dry over a can of sugar or flour. Until they do something to keep them in the dishwasher properly, there's just no point putting them there.
