I have a hanging lantern in my garden that is a pretty decent size. The original spark plug failed and stopped working. I decided to do my own repairs and see what it would take to replace it. The original candle was screwed into the base of the lantern through several eye holes. So I loosened the screws, got out the old candle and put this candle in and marked the bottom. I then asked my husband to take a very small drill and drill through the plastic screw at the base of the screw hole. I didn't realize it had a screw at the base, that made it a little more difficult. We drilled and screwed the base to the bottom of the lantern, then opened up the lantern and screwed the candle onto the bottom threads of the base. It works, but it took me a little more effort than I was hoping for. Now I wish I had a candle with a remote control to turn it on at dusk. Since the switch is hidden under a screw on the base, I have to completely unscrew the candle from the inside to change the timer when the seasons change. A candle is a dim light, not very bright. Warm golden glow. As described.
