Review on Sony AIRSA10 S-AIR Speaker System - Black: Discontinued Product Review and Features by Victor Olsen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Doesn't work with HDMI from my DN1000, only plays analog

Except for my speakers, my Sony S-AIR stereo consists of a STR-DN1000 with EZWT100 adapter, two WAHT-SA10 for 7.1 surround sound. Sound, and now this AIRSA10. This is a fantastic addition as I can now place this AIRSA10 anywhere in the house or outside and I even get full sound. I can hear audio from my AIRSA10 even when the DN1000 is off if I turn on 'Standby' in my DN1000's SAIR menu. I can set the SAIR channel to 'Individual' in the DN1000 menu and I can select any analog input I want to hear from my DN1000, I don't even have to select that input on my TV. When I select "Party" in the menu of my DN1000, the TV input changes when I press the "SAIR" button on my AIRSA10. My only issue is that when switching the inputs that the AIRSA10 is receiving from my DN1000, the HDMI inputs do NOT show up. My DN1000 has 4 HDMI inputs but the AIRSA10 doesn't accept any of them. Luckily, as I said, the AIRSA10 accepts analog inputs, even if my receiver doesn't select that input for what I'm watching on TV. So I took the analog cables and connected them from my ATT set top box to the TV input on my DN1000. Now I can select HDMI 1 on my remote to watch TV and then I select TV input (analog) on my AIRSA10 and get sound from my stereo and AIRSA10. It's really awesome. I really like this device and just opened it. I plan to use it outside during football season while grilling and can't walk around in a dirty and smelly grill to watch TV on the couch. I'm sure this will make my wife happy but I'm not sure when I'll tell her I bought it lol. A few notes: - AIRSA10 is ONLY a wireless receiving unit, it does not have its own analogue input. .- You can select pre-installed radio stations on your receiver. So it's like a radio, just not out of range of the main receiver.

Pros
  • surround sound systems
Cons
  • Requires jack
