I was curious and decided to try this nifty door lifter. This is useful for lifting heavy doors just enough to screw the top hinge to the door. Of course, this is just an extra hand, so you still have to raise the other hand. It will not balance the door for you. It has pretty good clamping power and ease of use, but it does have a few downsides. Rotate the metal bar towards the door and push to raise it. Twist the metal rod sideways and the clip will release. quite easy. It's quite wide, so there's an inch of play for standard interior doors, resulting in play when the door is moved back and forth (when a lock is installed on an installed door). It also doesn't hold up so well on slippery surfaces. OK. The raw end of the metal bar with the hook points towards the edge of the door when lifted and hits the edge of the door a few times. Be careful, maybe a rubber tip should be attached at the end. I wish the bottom pad was softer rubber. It's made of plastic. Also the bottom of the metal shell is the rubber side of the door and the side of the floor. The sides are not soft. I'm glad I made the purchase but I see room for improvement. Hope that helps!
