Review on πŸ”Š Altec Lansing iM600 Black Firewire-Charging Portable Audio System for iPod by Angela Murphy

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very useful and versatile speakers, no video output at all

Excellent features: - Excellent sound quality - Good sound level - FM tuner - Docking station and stand foldable - There is a small storage space on the back remote control - With normal use there is none Remote control required only to change FM station presets - Good build quality - Nice design - Portable size and weight - Video output - Very good price! Not so good: - Glossy finish that peels off easily if scratched - Altec Lansing subwoofer discontinued. Very Bad - Won't charge 2nd generation iPod Touch. There is some misinformation here as the brochure on Altec Lansing's website clearly states that it works with the latest iPod models. The problem is that "working" means that part of the speaker works, but charging doesn't. I bought an Init Sports Case for portable DVD players up to 10 inches. It fits very tight but makes the device extremely portable and protects it from scratches. I forgot to add that for long periods of time when you don't want to take gear with you, the battery can be disconnected and left in place, so the device only works when plugged in and there's no risk of charging the battery too many times too many times. The battery is easily accessible with two screws UPDATE February 2009 I tried to connect a TV screen to the video out but there is no video out! there should be a video output. The specs on Amazon still mention this issue so I have to conclude that this is a case of false advertising and Altec Lansing is lying to their customers in order to sell. Never trust this manufacturer again.
