The vertical part is made of wood and you attach the hook to the wooden part with a screw. Very easy and quick to install. The hangers have a kind of rubber coating that prevents the clothes from slipping off. The rubber also lets you fumble with the blouse to put it straight on as this rubber is quite grippy. At least I know my blouses won't slide down. The instructions don't say to attach both hooks so I only used one so the hanger stays in place all the time. I don't have enough room to pick it up every time I take off my blouse, so I needed a multi hanger in the first place. I like it for the price.
