I am short-waisted and plus sized, a 3X at places like Torrid, Lane Bryant, and Hot Topic. I love fully adjustable straps to help hike up tops that are cut for a longer torso, and I love an empire waist since normal plus sized tops and dresses have no idea where my hips and waist are and often taper and flare in the wrong places.I bought a few of these dresses in different sizes. The 3X fit ok out of the box, but the 4X was more comfortable (without being "oversized"). When I washed the 4X (gently and in cold water and air drying) it did shrink a little. With that in mind, I'm returning the 3X (since once I wash it I doubt it will fit), and I'm buying some 5Xs; they may be a little oversized at first, but should fit comfortably after the first wash shrinks them a little.The fabric is on the sheer side if you're lit from behind -- not see-through, but your silhouette would be somewhat discernible. I don't really mind that at all. I'm going to pair it with a light short-sleeved bolero sweater and wear it to work on hot summer days. It would also be great for casual wear.A final note: I am also fairly small-chested, but if you have an ample chest, I think you might struggle to fit these -- the chest just goes straight down and the fabric really has no curve or give. It's hard to find clothes that don't have a ton of excess chest fabric for we who are both plus-sized and small-chested, so it's honestly a perfect find for me!
