Somehow, even though no one in the house is to blame, it seems the glass shelves in the fridge always accumulate foreign objects, doesn't it? These mats make it easy to keep the shelves clean. I had to trim the length about an inch to fit and unfortunately my glass shelves are about 1/2 inch wider than the length but they do their job well. Wire shelves in the pantry. They work great on any 12" deep shelf. They also make great placemats for toddlers or to protect crafts.
