the rain cover is in a small pocket in the top compartment I only mention this because I bought this bag before and it didn't have a cover and when I asked , where it is usually kept, I got mixed answers. Some weren't even sure it even came with a cover. However, one of the zippers was also broken (the rope was missing) so I sent it back. Lightning - yes, I do not understand. All of the bag's outer zippers have rubber zippers, but the ones in the main compartment are ropes that can break because of how the bag came in, and other reviewers have complained about this as well. This is a little different than a regular sling or backpack. because there is no hole on the front of the bag. The hole is on the side. I think they did it to add two front pockets that most other pockets don't have; not the ones that open sideways. I don't work for CL so I'm not writing a review to sell their products but I will say that overall I like the bag and it has some features that other bags don't have. As mentioned, access to the main compartment is from the side, but this should not be a problem. It will stand sideways by itself and there is also a handle on the side. It has a very wide shoulder strap that is very well padded, as is the back of the bag. It doesn't have a back pocket for a laptop, tablet or whatever. It's very well padded on all sides and apart from the zippers I find it protects my gear pretty well. I won't compare it to other bags but if I had the opportunity to change the design I would to get the perfect crossbody bag for me. - lockable zippers. It just scares me as most camera bags have no protection at all. and I would double stitch for most zippers, handles and other things that are used frequently - modifying the first pocket in front to open vertically down like the second pocket and have two zippers in each. It's pretty much useless as designed now. - Mesh pocket on the side for a water bottle. Pin it to the outside of your bag and you're done there. - Put a strap with a loop on both sides and a strap on the main compartment to prevent it from opening accidentally - Add a back pocket on the back. Personally, I mostly use these bags to carry an extra raincoat (actually a waterproof cover) or a light jacket. You can also use it for reflectors! - Add some plastic guides at the bottom to protect the bag from the underlying surface and help the bag stand upright. Now it fits snugly on its own but there is no protection on the bottom. Of course I have duct tape, but even that isn't durable. The tape wears out and the glue sticks to everything. I've seen really cheap bags with protection so why not these?
